Giving an old shed a new lease of life

The original Incheoch granary was destroyed by fire in the 1940’s. It was rebuilt in brick and had a fibre cement roof and roof trusses due to a shortage of wood during the war years. The upper floor was profiled cement flooring supported by huge steel beams to support the grain. Over the years the granary had become redundant and the decision was made to give it a new lease of life and convert it into a deluxe holiday home.

Ben and Rosemary Scrimeoger from building workshop did a wonderful job designing the holiday house for us creating sociable spaces full of natural daylight. They retained and re-used the upper floor and all the existing openings to frame the fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. The interior is bright, airy and spacious with open plan living accommodation and lots of space to store and dry ski equipment, golf clubs and walking kit.

Work commenced in July 2012 with Gavin Innes from Workshop Angus Ltd the project manager; he had a tight timescale as our first guests were booked in for Christmas 2012! With Gavin’s dedicated team of builders and joiners who were all a delight to have around the project was completed on time with no hassle to a very high standard.
